These terms govern your use of Guess the Reading at guessthereading.app (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The service

Guess the Reading is a real-time multiplayer Japanese vocabulary quiz game. Core gameplay is free. We also offer optional paid features and subscriptions — see “Billing and payments” below for details.

Your account

To create an account you must:

• Provide a valid email address.
• Be at least 13 years old.
• Create only one account per person.

You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us immediately.

Billing and payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing or making a purchase you also agree to Stripe's terms. We never see or store your card number, bank account details, or CVV — that information goes directly to Stripe.

• Subscriptions — paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You will receive a receipt by email for every charge.
• Cancellation — you may cancel at any time from the Settings page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain access to paid features until then.
• Refunds — charges are generally non-refundable once processed. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us at support@guessthereading.app within 14 days and we will review the case.
• Price changes— if we change the price of a subscription, we will give at least 30 days' notice before the new price takes effect on your account.
• Taxes — prices shown may exclude applicable taxes. The final amount charged will include any taxes required by your local jurisdiction.

Usernames

Your username is visible to other players. You may not use a username that:

• Impersonates another person or organization.
• Contains offensive, hateful, or harassing language.

We reserve the right to rename or suspend accounts with usernames that violate these rules.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Cheat or exploit bugs to gain an unfair advantage in gameplay.
• Harass, abuse, or threaten other players through chat or any other means.
• Attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the Service or its servers.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts or our systems.
• Use automated tools to interact with the Service in ways not intended for human players.

Chat and user content

Game rooms have a chat feature available in the lobby and after rounds. Chat messages are broadcast to other players in the same room in real time. They are not stored — when you leave a room, your messages are gone.

Your username and in-game answers are also visible to other players in your room. By submitting any content through the Service, you confirm it complies with these terms.

Service availability

The Service is provided as-is. We make no guarantee of uptime, availability, or uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. Where practical, we will give advance notice of significant changes.

Account suspension and termination

We may suspend or permanently terminate your account if you violate these terms or if we determine your use is harmful to the Service or other users. You may also delete your own account at any time from the Settings page.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Service. This includes loss of data, loss of progress, or any interruption to the Service. For paid subscribers, our total liability in connection with the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Brazil.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date when we do. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
